My name is Pamela and I am 49 years old. I believe you are never too old to learn something new, and I want to improve my crocheting skill.
I learned to crochet when I was 20 from the book Susan Bates “Learn to Crochet” in 8 easy steps. (for left or right handers). I found the book in local craft store for $4.00. Thus begin my love of crocheting. I still to this day only use Susan Bates hooks.
After learning as much as I could on my own, I did a correspondence course through the Craft Yarn Council of America. This course helped polish my crochet skill and unlearn some bad habits that I had formed. When I was done I had a Certification in Instructor and Teacher.
For the past 15 years I have been teaching crocheting at several business around our community; Our Senior Center, Community College, Hobby Lobby and my home just to name a few. I also developed the skill of repairing vintage crochet pieces (mostly afghans) for people. I love teaching others to crochet and watching them develop a skill that will last them a life time.
Besides loving to crochet I am a wife to a wonderful husband, a mother of two and a grandmother of five. My husband, who is a Chaplain, and I are active members of our church and work with people who suffer with addictions through a faith based discipleship ministry in our local church and jail.
Crocheting, reading (love my Kindle) and riding our bicycles are the ways I like to relax.
And yes I know I live a very busy life and have very little free time; but I still would like to try and crochet my way though this book.
