About crochetwithpassion

I have been certified through the Craft Yarn Council both in teaching and Instructor. I also have been teaching people to crochet for over fifteen years. This is what I will be doing through this blog. In the Crochet Master Class there are 18 projects. Some of the projects will be familiar to me such as Hairpin Lace; Tunisian Crochet; Filet Crochet; Double Ended Crochet; painted Crochet; Aran Crochet and Irish Crochet. However there are several in the book that are new and have peaked my interest and that includes the following: Woven Crochet; Tapestry Crochet; Entrelac Crochet; Fashion Crochet; Tassels; Bullion Stitch; Overlay Crochet; Bead Crochet; Bruges Crochet; Free-form crochet and Wire Crochet. Since Crocheting is a time consuming craft I will only be posting once a week. If you are like me and love to crochet but would really like to challenge yourself to go beyond what you are now doing, come along with me and move to the next level. Although the actual patterns will not be posted (copyright law) I will take you through each project and go through the process of each one. This is not a blog about free crochet patterns or selling crochet tools. What I would like to do is take you with me on the journey through this book as I learn and crochet each of 18 projects. I will attempt to crochet each project in the book, and in the process recording in detail my progress and the problems I encounter along the way and the process I went through to accomplish each project. I am hoping that you will not only learn from my experience but that it will inspire you to push yourself to the next phase in your crocheting skills. Until next time; keep those hooks flying.

Hello! I am 73 years old and have used Red Heart ever since I can remember ( that’s been a long time, believe me) and continue to use it to this very day. I have made a multitude of articles since I began crocheting and Red Heart is always my go-to yearn. Plus the added benefit of free patterns on the paper wraps. I love the many new stitches being shown in my e-mail. I have been teaching my granddaughter ( one of many, also) how to crochet and have given her skeins of Red Heart. The variety of colors is another plus for using Red Heart as well as long lasting, staying power of the yarn – very durable. I could go on and on but I believe you get me drift on Red Heart. It is the best yarn to use in any project.

I’ve been using Red Heart yarns since 1980, and have noticed in recent years that it feels softer than ever. I typically use the company’s Super Saver and Jumbo skeins but have recently made use of the “With Love” and “Buttercup” varieties, both of which are incredibly soft! From blankets to crochet hook cases to scarves, Red Heart has been my ‘go-to’ yarn for nearly all of my creative needs!

Whenever I buy yarn, it’s Red Heart. With Love and Super Saver are my go-to yarns for scarves and blankets because they’re great quality yarns, come in a variety of colors, and are affordable. Lately, my favorite has been Red Heart Boutique Unforgettable because it’s an easy yarn to work with and comes in many unique, variegated colorways. It’s easy to make a fashionable scarf or shawl in a short amount of time and I always get loads of compliments! 🙂

You betcha I’ll leave a comment about Red Heart yarn. That’s an easy one. I’ve been known as “favorite Aunt Sandy” for all the handmade items I make for my nieces and nephews. They all mostly live out of state, so getting a package in the mail from me always brings a smile. I mainly use the Red Heart Jumbo and Super Saver sizes because I can complete baby blankets efficiently and I can travel with less bulk. This method of purchasing the larger skeins also makes for lots of little bits of left over yarn, so I just completed two Easter bonnets with rosette embellishments for my nieces in Oklahoma. One white with a 1 1/2″ brim and one pink with same brim Used a 5.5 mm (I) hook for the hat and it only used dc and dc shell stitches. Worked up quickly and packaged up nicely to mail. My mother would be so proud of me that I continue to gift give the same way she taught me so many years ago. Red Heart has been in our family for so many years because you can count on a high quality from project to project and year to year. I wouldn’t use anything else.
