“Life Happens”

This has been a week of unexpected obstacles. I know everybody has had one of those weeks when “life happens” and all your plans gets altered. I am sure everyone knows the kind of week I am describing. The week when you have all of these plans-really good intentions of completing a lot of crocheting masterpieces, then you are walking down your hall way minding your own business and with a twist of your body your plans got completely altered. This was one of those weeks for me. My body decided to pop a rib head in my upper back. Although this is not serious and fixable — it was also very painful. To make a long story short, I had a very short week of crocheting and everything else. All I finished this week was a book mark for my friends birthday. On a good note I did finish reading or should I, say listening to Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery, and then got through the first nine chapters of Ben Hur by Lew Wallace. There are sometimes I really appreciate having a Kindle. I love to listen to audio books while I am crocheting.

Now back to my crocheting; I have a friend who is an avid bird watcher, she and her husband have traveled all over the country documenting bird sightings they have spotted into a journal. So when I saw this book marker it screamed her name in all capital letters. Her birthday was in 15 days, so I just had to make it for her. I found the pattern in “Crochet with Love” magazine (August 1999).

It is made of number 10 string in colors of white, green, blue, and gold. (which I had all in my stash) The actual bird house is made first with the flowers, vine and bird to be crocheted in piece work and then sewn on later. I really love the way it turned out and am so glad to have it completed in time.

With great excitement I would like to say this week I will be crocheting my “Steppin’ Out Poncho” from Annie’s Hook & Needle Club and then I plan to start crocheting work on the eye glass case for another friends birthday coming up. Due date for completion is March 31. So much I want to crochet and so little time!!!!

Until next time, keep those hooks flying.

About crochetwithpassion

I have been certified through the Craft Yarn Council both in teaching and Instructor. I also have been teaching people to crochet for over fifteen years. This is what I will be doing through this blog. In the Crochet Master Class there are 18 projects. Some of the projects will be familiar to me such as Hairpin Lace; Tunisian Crochet; Filet Crochet; Double Ended Crochet; painted Crochet; Aran Crochet and Irish Crochet. However there are several in the book that are new and have peaked my interest and that includes the following: Woven Crochet; Tapestry Crochet; Entrelac Crochet; Fashion Crochet; Tassels; Bullion Stitch; Overlay Crochet; Bead Crochet; Bruges Crochet; Free-form crochet and Wire Crochet. Since Crocheting is a time consuming craft I will only be posting once a week. If you are like me and love to crochet but would really like to challenge yourself to go beyond what you are now doing, come along with me and move to the next level. Although the actual patterns will not be posted (copyright law) I will take you through each project and go through the process of each one. This is not a blog about free crochet patterns or selling crochet tools. What I would like to do is take you with me on the journey through this book as I learn and crochet each of 18 projects. I will attempt to crochet each project in the book, and in the process recording in detail my progress and the problems I encounter along the way and the process I went through to accomplish each project. I am hoping that you will not only learn from my experience but that it will inspire you to push yourself to the next phase in your crocheting skills. Until next time; keep those hooks flying.

ooh that sounds painful – hope you’re ok!

  2. Thank you so much for your concern. When it first happened it was very painful, but I went to the doctor and he popped it right back in and put me on light duty for a week. Already feeling like my old self.
